What does a girl in the 21st century need? She needs a jewelry frame to hang all her beautiful jewelry for less than $10! Jewelry boxes are a thing of the past. 🙂 Here’s a step by step tutorial on how I made the gorgeous DIY Jewelry Frame below. Enjoy!
What materials do we need?
- A pretty chic picture frame – I got mine at Goodwill for $4
- Vegetable BBQ tray or some metallic mesh – Found at Goodwill for $2
- 220 grit sandpaper
- Drop cloths
- Small nails
Dismantle your frame by removing any pictures in it, the backing, and the glass. Then lightly sand it down with the 220 grit sand paper to prepare it for the paint.
Primer and spray paint your frame with the color of your choice. Remember that multiple light coats are way better and easier to control than one really thick coat. This part took me about 4 coats because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t on so thick that it started to drip down the sides.
After the paint has dried, it’s time to fasten the grill to the frame. Make sure to place your frame down on a covered surface that won’t damage your newly painted frame. I used really small nails to fasten the grill to my frame. Make sure that you don’t hammer it through the front of the frame. Trust me, my mistake. 🙁
And you’re done! Now all you have to do is nail through the grill and into the wall since all the weight will be on the grill itself.
Sorry I wasn’t able to get a photo of it hanging on the wall. It was actually a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law since we were doing a homemade Christmas. 🙂
Until next time, I hope you have a blast trying out new things and just having fun with your projects.
